We are happy to present the 2nd Hospitality Barometer: Hostelería Z

News

On 19 March, we had the pleasure of taking part in the 2nd Hospitality HR Forum – HR Host Evolution – organised by the Cruzcampo Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce in Seville.

Our colleagues Jose Luis Rentero and Marta Valle presented the results of the 2nd Hospitality Barometer: Hospitality Z.
This study focuses on the sector's main challenges and opportunities for engaging with Generation Z, who bring new codes, expectations and motivations to the world of work. To this end, we have outlined specific, actionable strategies for the hospitality sector in areas such as planning, leadership, training and human relations, among others. The aim is to enable Gen Z to develop a professional career in a sector that they acknowledge is highly significant for society.

All of this is based on one premise: that young people have a different perspective on the world of work. They are not afraid of hard work, but they want to feel that their efforts are meaningful and will lead to progression.

Among the information provided by the report, the following points stand out:

  • Key Demands: Nearly 90% of Generation Z Young people demand predictable working hours, job stability and greater social
recognition for working in the hospitality sector.
  • Training and Salaries: 87% demand more training and better pay conditions
  • Current Rating: The sector scores 4.1 out of 10 among young people.
  • Preception of the Sector: Young people see the hospitality industry primarily as a temporary job, not as a long-term career
  • Attractiveness of the Sector:
It is seen as a sector that offers opportunities and is socially relevant, allowing for creativity in one’s work. In fact, 7 out of 10 young people believe that they can do creative work that is far from monotonous in the hospitality industry.
